About this piece
Whilst looking through the Cathedral Archives, I was touched by the way documents gave clues to the lives of people who had worked in and for the Cathedral. The handwriting, the signatures, the accounting records, the contracts- leaving traces of the working people who inhabited and interacted with the cathedral.
The stone masons of old wore aprons with a triangle of cloth that buttoned to their shirts. This triangle, folded down at the waist is worn by masonic societies today.
